Today I was looking to download some Nintendo Switch images onto my Macbook Pro using a microSD -> SD card reader.

I inserted the card multiple times and never saw it mount, or show in Disk Utility. The screen did flash, though.

I tried it again while using Quicktime to record a screencast and I was able to locate the source of the flash in a single frame which I'm posting here. It seems that macOS was asking for permission to allow the device to connect, but then auto-dismissing it immediately.

I tried again while repeatedly clicking the enter key on my keyboard as quickly as I could and it did end up mounting.

Has anyone seen this weird behavior before?

I'm running macOS Sequoia 15.3.2.

You might work around the problem by going to System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Allow accessories to connect, selecting Automatically When Unlocked or Always.

Thanks Grumpus! This was set to "ask for new accessories" which I'd be perfectly comfortable with if it worked. I changed this setting to "Automatically when Unlocked" and the disk now mounts automatically when I plug it in.
