Not sure if I'm posting in the right place here, but I have a very strange problem. I have an iMac 24", macMini, macBoook and a Qnap storage device, connected to a Netgear gigabit switch and a BT HomeHub 2 (ADSL broadband router).
Everything works fine until I plug in an external USB hard drive and plug the USB cable into the USB port on the side of my iMac keyboard. Then all of a sudden, the internet connection 'drops' (not the connection from the iMac to the router). The ADSL light on the router flashes for a minute and then connects again, then disconnects a minute later and so on....
The USB hard drive is at least 1m from the router, so this shouldn't interfere with the router, could it? By the way, there are 2 hard drives inside my QNap server which sits under the router, that's why I can't see that the hard drive could be physically interfering with the router.
