Strange bug using VLC and Airplay Mirroring

I noticed today while playing back some movies in VLC Player (1.1.12) when I choose to output the surround audio as Encoded, this causes Airplay mirroring (OSX 10.8) to suddenly come on. I can't turn it off unless I deselect Encoded output or turn off VLC.
