I use two iPhones - a 13 mini, and an XR. My vehicle is a Mazda with native CarPlay.

When I use the iPhone 13, CarPlay works without an issue. When I connect the XR, however, I cannot initiate CarPlay. I have to play content through the USB connection or via Bluetooth.

Bluetooth is working with both iPhones, and I've followed all the online tips to try to 'fix' the XR - turning Airplane Mode on and off, turning Siri on and off, etc. - and have even reinstalled from a two-week-old backup I made when the phone and CarPlay were both working perfectly. Still no joy.

I'm relatively certain the Mazda isn't at fault, since CarPlay works without issue with my iPhone 13. Anyone have any idea what could be going on with my XR?

Thanks in advance. This is one of those niggling first-world problems that is driving me around the bend.

1. Make sure your XR CarPlay settings are the same as your Mini. Settings>General>Carplay

2. Check that usb accessories are allowed while the phone is locked. Settings>TouchID/passcode>scroll to the bottom for USB accessories

My CarPlay settings on the XR don't show the Mazda as a connectable vehicle; it's there on the iPhone 13. However, Mazda's Bluetooth is finding the iPhone and vice-versa, so I'm unsure what else is required to register the car to connect.

Thanks!
