Hello all,
I'm having a strange issue I can't figure out. I have 2 Mac Book Pro's one 2015 and one 2019. I Used Migration to load the 2019 from the 2015 as I thought the machine was having an issue and purchased the new 2019.

So here's what's strange. I can connect to my network VIA 5g, I can see my router, I can log into it change settings etc. I can log into my switch same deal BUT I can't get out to the internet. I connect with my iPhone to 5g in the house and no issues on line. I can connect with a hard wired Apple TV , same no issues. Router has good connection speed tested 500/500 usually very consistent I have Verizon but my own router.

So Then I'll turn DHCP OFF on my computer, then assign a static IP and then it will work. I turn off the computer , turn it back on later in the day and then Static won't work but DHCP will. I go back and forth with this to see which one today will work.

More info is I can hook up a hard wire Ethernet cable and it will work sometimes DHCP or Static. My router's DHCP table has plenty of addresses lest. I test the table and I'm not getting a double address, when I go static , I assign an address in my static range.

So what I think it I might have some malware or some kind of software issue. I'm running Catalina on both machines and have the same issue on both machines. I worked with Apple Tech Support yesterday which If I can't figure this out , I'm gonna try them again. I re installed Catalina, Ran Wireless diagnosis , did a diagnostics report and test and nothing is showing up their as an issue.

The Tech from Apple said there is an approved Malware software but I didn't get the name of it. I'm willing to buy it but in all my years of using a Mac, I never had to have that software on any of my machines. We have at least 8 or 9 of them over the years.

Anyone with some deep network knowledge and mac knowledge want to take a stab at this? It's so strange. I'm online now with my 2015 machine but as soon as I pu it to sleep and try to use it again later, I have to cross my fingers it will work.

Thanks in advance for anything to look for.

You mentioned you tinkered with DHCP table. I assume, you know the basics of networking.
I assume, there is indeed an issue with that DHCP settings. I'm 99.9% sure there's no any malware.
The only thing that meets your description, is that DHCP runs out of free IP addresses (that's why it sometimes works, because there's fewer active network devices at that specific time, and it gets an IP, it's Dynamic).
I would advise to make everything simpler. I don't know what's your router manufacturer. Apply the default DHCP settings (or reset those, if you can) on the router and leave it at that, test how it works. Afterwards, if you really want to, add a range of IP addresses for all your devices +2 (you need to leave two extra IP addresses for self- and broadcast signals).
Hope that helps.
