Strange Duck On Our Lake

So this morning I get up and see that the whole lake is covered with ice except one small 20' diameter section by our neighbors house. I also noticed that all the geese, ducks and a very odd looking bird are hanging out there.

So I get my camera and took a few pics before it flew away. Anyone no what type of water fowl it is? The pics aren't that great - the 20D doesn't do well at 8° F....

Damn - for some weird reason I can't upload pics, anyone else have that problem?

Habitat and Distribution
Buffleheads live by lakes, rivers and bays. Most breed in the northwestern part of North America. As winter nears, Buffleheads migrate to coastal water on the Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific coasts as far south as Mazatlan. The average number found in Texas, both on the coast and in the interior, has been recorded at 4,300. This is the largest winter count of Buffleheads of any state.

Seems like an oddity that it would be in Warsaw this time of year.

That would explain why in the second picture it only seems to be half flying/half dragging its feet.
