Hello,

Please Help!!

I am trying to trouble shoot an error that my mom's mac mini is receiving. She is a newbie in Macs and does not know anything about computers and I am not present to see the exact errors.

According to her the mac mini starts up, chimes, and the apple logo appears but goes to a black screen immediately. This has happened to me before, but the error message is definitely different. I have reset the PRram, the PMU, and tried to boot from the CD all of which have been unsuccessful and result in the same error listed below.

Black screen with the following text:

-sh:-/etc/profile/userdir
-sh:-/etc/profile/2.05b

I have looked all over the internet and have found nothing. My mom also failed to purchase AppleCare so calling apple is out of the picture.

Thanks for any help.
