Strange graphic glitches in games(bootcamp)

I have bootcamp 2.1 and installed sp3 on my imac late 2007, and all the newest apple/ati drivers for the radeon 2600. When playing games I use smc fan control (and then restart in windows) and a separate fan on my room to keep a nice airflow, but every time after playing for 3-4 hours silk road online which is a not that "heavy" game i get some strange things on the screen.

and every time it happens the screen starts to "blink" faster and faster until it stops sending the image. This has never happened on OS X (i do game there too) and when I restart everything is normal.

Any ideas on what may be?
I assume it's not a heat problem since it doesn't happen on os x and on windows it started since i installed bootcamp.
Any help/tip would be appreciated it's really annoying not being able to play a mmorpg for more than 4 hours

I have exactly the same problem.
Under Windows Vista and Under Windows XP.
I'v tryed original Bootcamp drivers and Ati modified drivers with no luck...

windows ay.. no surprise there.. but seriously, i have no idea why this is happening..best bet is to just boot back into osx, should short the problem.. if it then happens in osx you will at least know its a hardware fault (graphics chip) most likely..

Everything works quite good under Mac OS X...
So it must be a driver related problem, or maybe a overheating problem due a bad administration of the fans under Windows.

Just to be sure, goto ATI's website and upgrade your drivers manually, see if that makes a difference.

If that doesn't work.

Goto the Apple store ASAP!

I have the same problem no matter what drivers I use, but with MAC OS X, as MetalMac says, it works well.
I don't think that Apple is going to fix anything if it only happens with Win....

Whats your guys apple specs just for the record and what drivers are you both using?

Bootcamp drivers + Win XP SP2
Bootcamp drivers + Win XP SP3
Bootcamp drivers + Win Vista SP1
Official ( but modded to work with macs) Ati drivers + Win XP SP2

I have the exact same problem as you do also, and I started a thread on it but we never got any solutions, click on my name and look at my recent posts to look at the thread and see my pictures.
Okay I have some questions.
1. In Device Manager do you have 5 monitors under Monitors? Like 3 Default monitors, 1 Generic Television, and 1 Plug-and-Play monitor?
2. Okay, I think this is where my problem comes from and I haven't asked anyone because I'm not sure about the legality, but did you install Windows with a Dell Reinstallation CD? I was able to do that somehow, but this problem happens, and I think it may have to do with altered system files.

Um, that looks like a hardware/driver problem and has nothing to do with Windows.

Then again, Boot Camp isn't exactly known for it's stability/reliability, so it could always be that too. Hope it gets fixed quickly.

Try doing something equally intensive to your video card on the OS X side. Download a trial to a demanding game or try rendering something big in a program like Maya (also a free version). If you get the same, then it's hardware for sure. If not, then you know it is a windows thing.

I'm Still waiting COD 4 to be released....
I've been rendering 720p video for hours with final cut pro, I think it uses the graphics card, and everything went ok.

Another question, do you guys have faint horizontal lines across the entire screen? It's more like a discoloration thing, and it's kind of hard to notice unless you're looking at a darker background.

Maybe we should disable all monitors but the plug and play one, what do you think?
I have no lines... I have a black wallpaper and I can't see anything wrong on it. I think your problem is called "banding".

Tried it, doesn't work. I'm pretty sure the problem is a lot deeper. I posted some pictures of when one of my games had some strange graphical glitches on a different forum, and someone said it could be that my game's access to the RAM was screwed up, but not sure if he was correct or how I could fix that.

Did you guys try the Apple store? I mean, knowing Apple "geniuses" they'll just tell you it's Windows fault because Microsoft sucks and charge you $400, but still worth a shot.

Nope, I've basically given up until I can get a copy of XP or Vista that isn't supposed to be Dell only, since I believe that is what my problem is. One difference between my situation and yours is that my screen does not "blink" when it changes to these strange colors and lines, it just stays like that til I restart. (Or, and this may help you, I realized that if I made it go into Stand By and woke it up it was normal when it woke up, but then it would randomly shut down sometime after that). I'm not sure what the problem is, althought I'm fairly sure it has nothing to do with the video driver, because I've tried everything with that. I think it's deeper, at least for me, and somewhere in the system files, but messing with those is dangerous, trust me.

I've been playing for about 5 hours in Mac OS X ( Spore) and everything worked ok.

I also have this problem also when in bootcamp with 24", 28.GHz late 2007 iMac. It is not nessecarily gaming which I find causes this problem, its being in bootcamp in general.

I do find this problem occurs more frequently when playing games yet I can be using my bootcamp partition for web browsing/doing nothing particularly strenuous and after any given time between 1-4 hours my display will distort (as seen above) and start flickering until eventually my display will blank.

Restarting into Leopard or Windows fixes the problem immediately, yet the problem comes back again soon enough. I also game in OSX and have encountered no problems so I presume it is a driver problem.

I run Windows XP SP2 with the Provided Bootcamp 2.1 ATI drivers and the problem occurs. I have also tried installing the ATI 8.8 Catalyst drivers for ATI Radeon 2600 Pro yet the problem still persists.

After numerous hours searching the web for this problem, and encountering many with the same problem, yet no solution yet exists. Any help with this problem would be greatly recieved by me and many others!

In Windows, on your desktop, right click a blank space, hit Properties, go over to the Settings tab, and make sure you're on 32-bit color, and not 16-bit.
