Strange hotspot issue

Greetings all!

When I turn on the hotspot on my iPhone, I can’t get my iPad to connect. Oddly, I can connect my wife’s iPad or our laptop to my iPhones hotspot,but not my iPad. I can connect to my wife’s hotspot with my iPad, any idea what gives?

In this order, try the following, attempting to connect to your iPhone hotspot with your iPad after each step.

Hard reset your iPad
Hard reset your iPhone
Reset network settings on your iPad
Reset network settings on your iPhone

*Resetting network settings will require you to re-enter any saved WiFi passwords

Thanks for this. I’ve had the exact same scenario, but hadn’t gotten around to troubleshooting it yet, since I haven’t needed to take my iPad out of the house lately. Resetting network settings did the trick. Tried that first, so the issue was resolved in record time.

From my experience this is "normal" behaviour from iOS devices and has been as far back as I can remember. It did get far worse for me with 11.3 though. It truly sucks and is a major cause of frustration for me as mobile data is my only source of internet.
