I just opened my Macbook and I noticed there was a new icon that was appearing on the desktop. It says "storage" and I don't know how anything could be created 1969. Can anyone explain this?

Some cable modems will create that.

Seems fairly common with Time-Warner cable and Technicolor modems.
The volume that you see is likely related to providing a USB port that is seen as storage by the network (and mounts as such on your Mac.)
As it seems to be a normal result of using your cable connection, you can safely ignore it.

Thanks! I do have Time-Warner Cable as my ISP. the file size and the date really disturbed me and I thought maybe it was a trojan horse of some kind.
