Strange Icon in my status bar, causes status notifiers not to work

so installed statusnotifier a couple of weeks ago, and i loved it. one day i rebooted my iphone to find this weird symbol, and also to find that the notifications would no longer come up. i tried turning off every single notification to see which one it was but nothing helped. i even tried uninstalling it, but after that failed i reinstalled it and installed another notifier called reminder. that did not help either.

That is the TTY symbol. It is a setting for people who are hard of hearing. Go into Settings>Phone and you will see the TTY setting. Tap where it says ON and it will go to OFF.
