Ok, so this happened yesterday and totally ruined my holiday. Neither me or the partner knew it was happening. :(

I was texting a bunch, and he wasn't getting anything. I thought he was ignoring me all day. :( (iMessaged ruined Valentines....) He said he was messaging me, and I never got a single one.

After a phone reboot it seems to be working, but the read receipts are not showing, so I can't tell when he's reading messages. x.x So I'm still horribly paranoid that he's ignoring me. (That's a personal problem really. :p)

Anyway, what the heck is going on and why did it bug like this? And how do I get my receipts back? >.<

Edit: Forgot to mention, this SIM card is one of his, I don't have AT&T service, wifi only.

I don't have an answer to your question. Just more of an addition to it. I also experienced something weird.

Me & my boyfriend were exchanging messages, all bubbles showing up as blue imessages. It's after midnight at the time I'm writing this, and I could tell he fell asleep because his answers got very short and then stopped, which is normal. Naturally I sent a few messages he didn't reply to, since he was asleep.

Then about 10 minutes after I sent my last message to him, I checked again just once more to see if there was a reply, and that particular message turned to green (indicating text and not imessage), and the delivery time changed from 12:41 am to 12:51 am. There were never any of those red spot/exclamation mark warnings that a message was not sent. It simply changed from blue to green ten minutes later, and changed the delivery time indicated.

I checked with another friend that also has an iphone and a message to her stayed blue, so this may lead me to believe the mystery of the changing colors is not on my end? I have Verizon, but both my boyfriend and my other friend have AT&T.

Anyone else experience this or know why this happened? Or if the message was even sent at all? It would really frustrate the heck out of me to find out that a portion of my imessages don't make it to the recipient at all without me knowing  Methinks imessages have bugs in them that will need fixing...

This is just started happening to me and a family member who lives overseas. Every message says not delivered, but the recipient is still receiving them.

Messages Beta on Mac has also stopped working for some reason.

I have the same problem. The error says not received when it has in fact been received.

The problem for me only occurs if I am sending email to email. If I send to an iPhone phone # from an iPhone phone # it does not occur.

Also my desktop Messages is not receiving replies and seems to be largely shut down.

I, too, had this problem. The message would send over iMessage, but it never said delivered/read. After a minute or two, it said, "Sent as text message." The problem started on the 14th of February and ceased on the 15th.

I fixed the issue by signing out of my account on desktop Messages and signing back in. Not sure why that worked, but it did.

I tried signing out and back in. That didn't work. Leaving it overnight seems to have worked as I now can send email to email iMessage/Messages.

Wonder if there's some type of spam type filter Apple is testing that might shut down email to email iMessages for 24 hours -- or at least delivery reports/receipts.

Having the same problems too.

Messages that have supposedly failed actually were received.

Message sends as Blue and a while later it turns Green and says sent as text !!

"Not Delivered"

I encountered never-ending issues with Messages.app beta screwing up my iPhone and iPad messages. As soon as I uninstalled and restarted my mac, my phone and pad started working right away!

The changing of colors from blue to green means that there wasn't a good enough data connection to send an iMessage.

There's a timeout limit, something like 5 or 10 minutes, where if it can't send as an iMessage (blue bubble) it'll send as a regular text message (green bubble)

It's a strange little bug/gremlin, that's for sure. The next day after I wrote my post above, me & my bf checked our phones together, and all the messages that were green on mine were green on his, and likewise blue on mine were blue on his, and all went through at the same times. So it wasn't a matter of one of us having the phone turned off. And both of us had strong wifi and 3G signals at our houses, so... I still have no clear solutions other than to double check with the receiver of the message, if it's important just make sure and ask them if they got my message. Hmm. Seems I had to do that alot with the previous iOS too. Oh well :p

BTW, my problem was strictly with SMS / texting / imessages. I haven't noticed anything amiss with emails... yet.

Just wanted to add that I finally encountered a problem like the OP. Apparently over the weekend my bf came all the way up here to visit his parents (we live about 2 hours apart) and was trying to text / imessage me all weekend to let me know he was there, and I didn't get a single one of his messages for two whole days, so he thought I was ignoring him. Then finally when one message went through late sunday night (after he was all the way back home of course), just like the OP he thought I was ignoring him and wanted to know what was wrong. The only other info I can add to this is that the AT&T signal is weak at his parents house, but his phone did say the messages were delivered to me even though they weren't. AAARGH I wish apple would fix this!
