About a month ago my headphone jack started acting strangely. Every 1-2 days the audio through the headphones would temporarily be distorted and quiet until I turned it up to full volume and the sound would suddenly go back to normal. I thought it was a headphone problem so I swapped pairs and still had the same problem. It started to get more and more frequent until now where the sound after turning the volume up would be normal for a few minutes and then go back to the distortion.

Please help.

First of all, check the jack if there is nothing in there that is hindering a good contact with the headphone plug. Usually, dust or lint accumulates inside that it can affect audio quality. You can use a toothpick to a swab with rubbing alcohol. Do not blow into it to prevent saliva from getting inside.

If all is clear, then maybe the jack is problematic. At this point, you can take it to a tech for a closer inspection inside.
