Hi. This morning I turned my iphone on and there was a strange message that said "It's a nice day today, Dave. Why don't you go outside?". This wasn't a text message. It was in big writing on black with a large "Dismiss" button at the bottom.

I'm quite freaked out. My name is Dave, it is a nice day today and I haven't been out for ages!

My iphone isn't in any way hacked. The last thing I downloaded from the app store was SpawnLite.

I REALLY wish we could do this on AT&T.

I have so many friends with iPhones that would have no clue about this.

Anybody in the UK reading this. Start your message with *go

Then type your message with no space after the o. Have hours of fun convincing your friends their iphones have become self aware.

Yeah. I'm on O2 in the UK. A flash message? I can't believe I've never heard about these. It just happened again. I took a picture...
To be fair it's a somewhat obscure feature, and the only reason I know of this is because other people on the forum have asked the exact same question as their friends were playing the same game.

Timeless prank!
I used to have an app for my old XDA EXEC that let me send flash messages direct from the text window. People used to freak out, much like the OP!

Recommended to anyone who's bored :D

I had a feeling it might be a friend. Now I've just got to work out who it was and plot my revenge.

If you go to the O2 website, and access your Bluebook, you should be able to see who sent you the message.
