I sync my Google contacts to my iPhone and Mac and have done so for years without issue. All of a sudden today I noticed random "extra" contacts visible in the iPhone/Mac Contacts app (but not Google contacts on the web, because *I didn't add them to my contacts*). They're email addresses from Gmail that I have recently corresponded with - like, support emails from random companies and craigslist responses type of deal. I do not use the stock Mail app so I know that's not to blame. Anyone had the same thing happen all of a sudden or have any ideas?

I would suspect that the "extra" contacts are in iCloud, which you should be able to verify in the Contacts app on your Mac. Perhaps the program you're using is automatically creating contacts for addresses to which you send emails?

These are both great suggestions, however iCloud contacts are entirely turned off for me and I just verified that the extra ones are indeed “Google” according to the Mac. “Show Siri Suggestions” is off across the board on my phone and Mac.
