Ok so I have a 4,1 Mac Pro with a GT 120 in it and I happen to have laying around is a EVGA 750ti. I read on here that it works with my mac and el capitan so I gave it a try and no go. I hit the power button, fans start up and hard drives start spinning but no chime. I tried it in slot 1 and 2. Tried both the 120 and the 750 at the same time. Then in the opposite slots at the same time just in case. Display hooked to one, display hooked to the other. Its not a driver issue because it doesn't get to that point, I never get a chime. Display is a 30" Apple Cinema Display connecting via dual link dvi. Specifics below. Thanks in advance!

It does not have an external power requirement which is why I chose it. It's a bad ass little card and sips power.
Did you install and activate the NVIDIA web drivers before or after trying to boot with the 750 Ti in your machine?
Maxwell cards will prevent a Mac Pro from booting unless the web drivers are installed first. It doesn't matter whether or not another Apple-supported card (like your GT 120) is also present.

I missed the "no chime" part of the post. Sorry about that.
I think you're right, but it's been a while since I've tried to boot without web drivers.
OK got this solved. so heres what happened, the no chime was cause by something up with the NVRAM, after i reset that i got everything working again properly on the old vid card. some more time went by and a person on reddit told me to make it boot and log in automatically and then see if I could connect to it from another computer with green sharing.
i said yeah that sounds like a good idea, cuz i couldn't tell if it was running or not. to make it auto login i had to turn off filevault. ok there was the problem, it was waiting for the disc key. yes i feel very stupid. it was strange that i was not getting video from the GT120 when both were in but oh well.
now my question for MacVidCards is; if they flash my evga 750ti, will i be able to see the prompt for the disk key?
