Hi all

my iPad mini 3 hasn’t been used for a while fired it up today and it had a strange large mark in the Center of the screen. Certainly colours seem to highlight it more where as a colourful cartoon seems to disguise it?

many way to repair this?

It looks like the battery has expanded and is pushing on the screen from behind. You should shut it down and get it checked. That’s a fire hazard waiting to happen.
Agree.

I would by a new ipad on the spot.

Hi all thanks for your replies.

Stupidly I did almost the opposite while waiting for your replies i set it to full brightness on a white background and disabled lock in case it was some kind of screen burn.

The good news is it’s nearly gone now?

I will completely power it down tonight and see if it reappears in the morning.

There were no fumes and there is no bulging or bending which I’ve seen in the past?

It did have a digitiser a while back and I’m noticing some particles under it maybe that’s causing a little pressure but not the size that was .

If I get chance I’ll take it off to inspect the battery and clean between lcd and digitiser

Cheers

I guess I was confused by the statement “It did have a digitiser a while back and I’m noticing some particles under it maybe that’s causing a little pressure but not the size that was .” Seemed incomplete but perhaps OP was trying to say that the digitizer was replaced a while back.

Sorry that's exactly what I was saying

Ok I tore this down earlier initially to clean the dust behind the digitiser...

I then lifted the lcd and the battery is fine but there is no shield plate between the screen and the battery so when the digitiser was done this was forgotten grrr....

anyway powered it up while it was apart and it was still the same so I don't think its pressure related...

reassembles and trying the full brightness trick for a few hours failing that I think its new lcd time :(

Thanks

So after nearly 12 hours of screen being on 100% on a white background and not locking the only way I can see this is if I reduce the white b
Point or whatever it’s called. In normal usage it’s absolute fine... iPad is very warm obviously...
Hopefully this fixes it but I fear that as it cools down it will got as it was again...

Came down this morning. Turned it on and it was bad again...
Ordered a new lcd and then started getting brutal...

I pulled back the glass and blasted the lcd with a heat gun so hot it went black... when it came back on it was nearly as good as last night it’s weird heat seems to fix it I imagine it will be bad when cool again...

before this morning
