Earlier I noticed a faint noise coming from the top left of the iMac, a little 'hiss' like, but otherwise hard to describe. I presume it's the HD, but I'm not quite sure as diagrams show the HD being more-a-less in the middle.

Perhaps the room has got quieter, but then again the concern is that the iMac has got louder. Any possible explanations or experiences? Any help would be greatly appreciate, thanks.

I have same experiences too, any body can help?
How long have you been on this condition?

Can anyone offer some advice at all? Thanks.

Perhaps it's just the normal sound, I have been closing the window more lately due to the weather, so it might just be that I couldn't hear it before.

Odd that this is happening with the newest iMacs...

That "squealing" sound was rather prominent in my 1st iMac-- the Blueberry G3 333Mhz from 10 yrs ago. It was annoying. I never found out what it was, even calls to Apple yielded no solution. Sorry to hear it's back again in the newest iMacs.
