So i left my MBP on and running on the AC for about 3 hours tonight, came back, woke it up, and noticed that it was running louder than usual. so i checked the processes, and saw that my processors were running at 95-100% (who knows for how long), and that there were 3 processes labeled "fsck-msdos" running (i have never seen these before) - and combined, they were using all my processing power. i'm sure it isn't good that my computer was running full tilt for who knows how long, and i'm also sure it isn't good that there is something called msdos on my mac. also, now, every now and then there's a new process called "KernelEvent" and "WindowServ..." and "kextd" (these only show up in iStatPro, not the real Activity Monitor).
So uhh...an explanation? all software is up to date, i ran maintenance, everything seemed fine...there are several windows computers on my network right now, if that has anything to do with anything. thanks for your time, guys.
EDIT: if it helps, i had a power outage earlier today, with MBP plugged in, and it was acting sorta goofy, but seemed fine upon restart.
