This has been happening since I received the the Mac mini M1 in late January, always running the latest MacOS, currently at Big Sur 11.2.3 (20D91). My display is connected via HDMI to Dell 3014 Display. Wonder if anyone else has seen this. I did see the (previously reported) tiny pink square during boot but that was fixed with a software update.
I have observed the pink tinted video playback in both Safari, and VLC, often it appears with a semitransparent pink overlay, and can extend off-center a small distance from the video playback region. It can last for a few or even tens of seconds and then disappear. It will disappear if I move the window in which the video is playing. Other than that, it seems to come and go at random.
A Screenshot application picture of the phenomenon removes the pink overlay, but if I record a full screen video it is preserved.
The enclosed example taken from capturing screen video and shows the pink overlay bleed over outside the video playback area to the right.
I took a small portion of the screen to show the effect, which is hard for me to describe, since I am color-blind. (It may be bluish.)
This is more of an annoying quirk, but I have not seen anyone else mention this happening to them. I have not noticed this under any conditions other than playing video, either live from network, or playback from a file. Any suggestions?
