Has anyone else had problems with noise when recording live instruments into Garage Band? When I USB into GB, with either a mic recording of acoustic guitar or a direct USB electric guitar recording, I get these pops and crackles (sort of like a bad guitar cord crackle). And they are permanently recorded on the track, thereby ruining it. I've checked my patch cords and they're okay. I'm wondering if it's something to do with the USB interface hardware, or maybe this is happening to others who are running GB on an ibook like I am? Any ideas?

thanks

My best guess is that you are recording in at too high a volume, causing digital "distortion", which sounds like you describe... really bad!

Try going to the Sound system preference and turning the input volume down.... you can play the guitar while watching the Sound preference, and see a meter. you want that meter to never reach the very top, even at the loudest sound you will play.
