Hey everyone... I'm having a problem with samba that is making my ears bleed... I'd be grateful for any insight...

I'm running a Win2kPro box as essentially a fileserver, and connect to it with smb on my iBook running 10.3.x... In the windows box I have 2 internal drives and an external firewire drive, divided into 5 partitions. All are shared. The problem is that I can only mount 2 of the 5 partitions, both located on the same physical drive; the other 3 partitions are not visible in os x.

I just can't figure out why this would happen... I just did a clean install of windows to add the external drive and repartition some things, but prior to that smb networking worked flawlessly. I've scoured both the Apple and Microsoft knowledge bases, without finding anything resembling my problem.

Ok, so I'm going to reply to my own post, because I did solve the issue after much searching, so maybe it'll help out someone in the future...

Anyway it appears there's a bug in 10.3.x that won't recognize share names with greater than 8 characters. Sigh.

Sorry I didnt see this thread sooner, I would have saved you some grief as i've already encountered this at work. It's very annoying.
