iPhone Strange Shadows On Status Bar Icons

Just updated my iPhone 7 Plus to the iOS 12 GM and i noticed there are some strange shadows behind the status bar icons. Is it supposed to be that way? I did not notice it when i had the betas on my old iPhone 6.

are these gray areas still there even if you change yr iOS Home Screen wallpaper?
