Out of nowhere my iphone is displaying a strange symbol over the phone and mail icons (see picture). I've tried rebooting my phone several times and the symbols go away but seem to just come back again on their own. Does anyone know what this is and how I can get rid of it?

I think those are the new symbols from when you run backgrounder.

Really? I have backgrounder installed but I'm not running it. I even tried enabling and disabling backgrounder on those two apps and the symbols remain.

Disable it and then reboot the phone/springboard.

Actually I just found out that there's an update to backgrounder that allows you to permanently disable these "badges" (that's what they're called) so that's what I did. Thanks.

is there a new update from the recent update?
I looked in cydia and didn't see anything new, just the most recent one that created the 'badges'.

There was another update after the one that enabled the badges that added an option to enable the badges.
