I have a boot camp windows xp partition on my new imac. While in os x, sometimes i hear windows chimes! as if something in windows has just started etc..

Yes, I checked that I'm not imagining it and that i'm not running anything weird.

Anyone else have this happen? What's the deal?

What's really strange is that the sounds occur randomly; not when I quit something or open something etc.. and they occur about once a minute or so, but not with any regularity...

edit: i'm getting a bad feeling about this... they're starting to occur in pairs now and more frequently, i'm running disk utility..

..seems to have stopped after running disk utility, will keep you posted on this if it returns, but that is a REALLY alarming error....

Oh no! It's back!

I didn't hear any windows chimes for an hour or two after using disk utility, i web browsed or did nothing on the computer during that time, now it's back !

What could be causing this???

IT'S DEFINITELY BACK !!!

need help pronto!

I would be mad dumb if that was it lol...

Unfortunately the sound persists with my web browser closed! Scary!

This is very strange... i haven't bothered checking the activity monitor because i haven't heard the sounds today...

maybe it was just some sort of weird fluke, i'll keep you posted if it happens again

if this does turn out to be a problem it would be VERY bad for boot camp, hopefully it's nothing

thanks!, i'll post here if it happens again
