With my iMac, I want to be able to stream my tv channel to my iMac primarily, and it would be nice if I could stream from the iMac to the tv as well. I have a few questions. Keep in mind I have no experience with tv streaming ever.

1) Cost?
2) How many wires are involved in iMac side? I like to keep it completely wirefree (wireless please)
3) What company (hardware/software)
4) Does it only work on HD tv's or both
5) How hard is the setup?

My Goal is to be able to schedule a recorder for TV shows to save onto iMac. Say save a show from this channel at 7:00pm every Monday or something. I also want to be able to instantly tune into my TV channel. Will my TV have to be completely on (Not just power supplied) for this to work? Do I just need a TV tuner or what? What model would suit my needs best. I also would like to be able to bring up media on my iMac onto my TV if possible, but this is secondary.

*Edit* It would be nice to be able to watch it on my iPod touch as well. How would this work?
Also would this slow down my Mac?
I'm considering the Elgato eyeTv hybrid, what does this exactly do??

wow thats a pretty intense setup youd need there.

wirelessly??? i dont know about that, you would need some sort of FireWire/USB2.0 connector that is capable of taking RCA/component/HDMI inputs into the computer.

scheduling would be fairly wierd aswell, you would need something like a EyeTV or similar, but i dont know how it would schedule to record.

k maybe not wireless but how much could I do?
edit: what I mean by no wires is that I don't want a massive cable running from the mac to the tv
