Streaming 1920x1080 movies

I recently purchased ATV, and everything is working great.

I'm streaming from both my laptop (MacBook Pro 17") and an external SATA drive on a Firewire 800 connection.

When I stream 1920x1080 movies from my internal drive things are fine, but from the external drive, things start getting a little "jumpy".

Anyone having luck with any portable external drives?...would an external 7200 rpm 2.5" SATA be fast enough over FW800?

Thoughts?

The AppleTV v2 was not designed to stream 1080p content reliably.
