I just re-discovered the Radio Streaming in iTunes Last night.

Can you stream it to the Apple TV?

I haven't tried it, and yes, I'm really lazy on this one, but I'm sitting here at work and was just thinking about it.

That would open up the possibilities of Ipod touch, iphone, front row integration. I wish apple would go this way. I love the free radio. Its almost as good as XM and its free.

Wouldn't it be wonderful they would do the same for TV. Kinda like winamp did 3 years ago.

I'm not really sure why they don't.

My Onkyo receiver has the ability to take a stream directly from the internet.

I can't imagine any reason to not do it other than pissing off the Record companies.

That's a great find, but this:

2. Copy Streamer.frappliance to this folder: /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/PlugIns on the Apple TV.

is a deal-killer for many. It will require removal of the ATV hard drive since Apple disabled ssh on the 1.1 updater. Still might be worth it, though. I'll have to check into this to see if it works with the 1.1 (which I'm sure Apple will break with the next updater).

Thread resurgence commencing in 3... 2... 1...

So, does anyone know if the AppleTV supports streaming radio, a la iTunes?

I've exhausted my listening options within my library, and the radio options gives fresh choices to my listening repertoire. I'm holding back from purchasing one, as this is a deal-breaker for me.

yes, you can, but it's a pain

To listen to internet radio on AppleTV:

1) Create a new playlist in iTunes called "Internet Radio Favorites" or something like that.

2) Drag your favorite iTunes radio stations to it. You can also add internet radio stations to it that are not in iTunes if you know the URL.

3) Sync the playlist to AppleTV. This will work, but the next time AppleTV syncs it will remove the playlist. To re-sync the playlist, I have to "uncheck" each radio station in my playlist and sync, then re-check (select) each playlist and sync.

This is not elegant, but allows me to listen to internet radio with the computer in sleep mode, and doesn't require hacking. Hopefully, Apple will simply allow this at some point, because the AppleTV can do it without a problem.
