Can someone help me out please?
I have a Russound Sphere audio/video home distribution system in my home. I have an iPod dock which a source in the Sphere system. The Sphere wall plate has a click wheel and functions somewhat like an iPod but it takes forever to go through the iTunes library with the Sphere system.
I want an easier way to browse thru my iTunes library and play any song directly through the Sphere system.
I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro. What would be the best way to bridge the Mac to my Russound AV system? I want to be able to go through my iTunes library on my MacBook Pro, chose a song and have it play through my Sphere system effortlessly. I heard bad things about the Airport express so I don't want to go that way. Can I use the Apple TV to do this as a bridge to stream the music or is there an easier way?

Thank you

I just use an Airport Express, which has always worked fine for me. That said, the new Apple TV has optical audio out, so there's no reason why it shouldn't be able to work.

The drawback is that you'd have to set up the Apple TV's wireless connection and remotes while the device is hooked up to a TV vs. through Airport Utility as with the Airport Express. However, after doing so you should be able to control the Apple TV with your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch via the "remote" app.
