With the above hack you dont need to have a jailbroken iphone. its just a mac software download!!! thats it!

It's basically Remote Desktop for the iPhone & iPod Touch. It allows you to see your Mac's screen, take snapshots with the iSight on the Mac, stream media, do spotlight searches, access the /user files, etc. Brilliant piece of software really. If I had an iPhone or Touch I'd definitely try it out.

Telekinesis is a lot different than Signal, which is just a remote (and a nice one at that) for iTunes, Winamp or WMP. Also, I don't believe it needs to be jailbroken as you are using a webapp. You download Telekinesis onto the Mac and then access it from Safari on the iPhone or Touch.

lots of potential

i look forward to future updates on this. so far it's worked pretty well. i couldn't hear the sound on the video i was streaming and it looked less than mediocre.
very cool start. thanks for the post
:)

Really?

I think i clearly said that.

I think that when you said "and you don't have to have a hacked iPhone" it sounded like you were implying that Telekinesis requires you to hack your phone whereas your suggested alternative did not when in fact neither require you to hack your phone.

I installed the program (iRemote) on my Macbook running Leopard.
All works well except when I click the file I want to play (audio or video) it only launches on the Macbook- either in iTunes or QT. It doesn't stream to the iPhone.

Any tips on how to fix this?

Oh my!! There goes my Sunday! This app is very, very slick!

Works great, except for the fact that the mouse pointer is not calibrated, so when I click on a program it opens something else!

:)

If you click "open" it plays on your computer, you have to click on the name of the file for it to stream. It also has to be an iPod/iPhone compatible file to stream to your iPod/iPhone. Does anyone have the cables for iPod and iPhone TV Out support? I would love to see if you can stream content with the t.v. out, making your iPhone a portable mini :apple:TV. :D

I need some help with this webapp

Whenever I click a file to stream it on my phone it says "Safari can't open the page because it could not connect to the server."

They are all compatible files as well, m4v, m4a, m4p, mp3

Can anyone help me out

Try punching a hole in your firewall at the address suggested by the program - usually 5010 AND 5012 using the 'sharing' part of system preferences (tiger), or if you use Leopard the new flashy bit I know nothing about :(

Thanks VERY much.
Cool app.
My only concern is leaving it on all the time (how secure is this really?)
Thanks!

They haven't been updated for sometime, and I think I saw in their google code saying they have done pretty much everything... so I don't know if they would continue developing, but it's nice app, and anybody can add plugins so I hope the community keeps it updated! I love the camera function.

For a native app, there is VNsea for remote desktop, it's getting better, faster frame rate than telekinesis, more flexible keyboard shortcut, but I don't think the password security is as good as telekinesis, so basically I would use only in home network (or EDGE maybe?) for now...

EDIT: Sorry, I just review the thread again, and I realized it was kinda off topic cuz this is about streaming media. VNsea is remote desktop, but I'm gona leave it just as a note that one of telekinesis function has a strong competition in native app.

Can anyone tell me how to use this while not on my local area network? The google page implies that it is possible.

Check your router setting, make sure port mapping for 5010 and 5012(or whatever your choice) from public IP is connected to your local ip, 5010 and 5012.

Also, if you have dynamic IP from your provider, then you gatta get dns server. I use dyndns, it's free.
