I’ll have my Airport Extreme on the 2nd flood but was wondering how I can stream movies and access files on the 1st floor television without hooking it up to a mac mini. Is there a cheaper alternative to be able to access files on tv?

Alternatively if you happen to have an xbox 360 you can install connect360 on your mac, and that will make you vids/photos/music accessible on your xbox

Yeah I would use a 1st generation apple tv with xbmc installed on it. Or you can use a old pc with a dvi video card. I think a first generation apple tv would be cheapest...they go for about 90.00 on ebay.
