"No escape from Reality...”
Question for Take 2.

If you use STREAMING only, and you purchase someonething with the AppleTV, will it still put it back on the computer and take it off the AppleTV since it is streaming everything?

Thanks.

How's it going to know where to put it to? You need to set up a syncing computer before, during or after you purchase or whatever you buy will live on your :apple:TV.

No, it won't... but there is a solution. :)

Sync with your main library, but then turn off syncing for music, movies, etc in iTunes. Then every time you sync, it will copy off the purchased files from the ATV and into your library... on top of that, it will delete the files from the ATV when it is done syncing. You will be able to use 'My Movies'/etc to stream files from your main library.

I want to put the purchased file back onto the computer it is streaming from.

I guess I'm confused. I have about 80 Gigs worth of stuff, but my AppleTV is only 40. That's why I stream everything...

I stream everything too, except I have about 300GB worth of stuff. :)

The catch is that you turn on syncing, but the sync options have changed for 2.0... you turn to custom syncing, but uncheck the 'only show synced content' checkbox on the summary tab. Then go through all the other tabs and turn off syncing there.

What you get this way is that everything in your library is now under 'My <X>', using streaming. Anything you buy on the ATV is on the ATV, but via syncing, can be pushed back to your library.
