Hi,

Just picked up a 40GB Apple TV and am a little confused as to how to setup streaming.

I have an always on Mac Pro with a wired connection to my Airport Extreme N base station which in turn connects via ethernet to the Apple TV.

In order to stream and not sync do I Pair the iTunes library on my Mac or do I only setup sharing? I don't want any content stored on the Apple TV itself except for movies that I rent. What are the setup options in iTunes that i need to be wary of.

Thanks for any help in advance.

let it sync - it'll copy over what it can, and stream the rest. When you download something new, it'll replace something old on the ATV. At least this was what I was told by a few members here.

set it up to sync. then in itunes, click on your appletv in the device list, and select "custom sync" instead of automatic. then go to the movies, tv shows, etc tabs on the top, and uncheck everything. then it will sync nothing, and you are free to stream away.

Thanks, that's just what I needed to know.

Would I have to keep my Macbook Pro at all times in order for this streaming method to work. Or could I copy the Itunes Library to my harddrive?
