Hi everyone.
I have a octo 2.26 2009 MP, with OWC SSD and 32 GB RAM, and I am suffering from a weird problem.
When I have about 2 or 3 streaming videos opened in Chrome, the whole system is lagging. Even when they are paused, and no other apps are running, system lags. When i try to play those videos, they do play, but framerate is extremely low, like 2 frames per sec.
I thought that such a computer must be able to handle such tasks without me even noticing anything, and I am confused about what the reason for this might be. All other apps, like Adobe CS6 products work perfect.
I had this issue on Lion, after updating to ML it's still there.

Thoughts?

Hi,

Did you check for network problems, such as sluggishness from the router? Try resetting your router or base station and see if that fixes the problem. This is a constant problem on my end. Too much conjestion over the network has made me reboot the router here too many times. After awhile your service slows down. Always good to refresh your router and that should clear away the sluggishness.

It's not the router.
Router cannot make the whole system lag.

True, but try resetting it so that the service is refreshed. Sometimes internet can be slow due to conjestion.. a reboot might help resolve the issue. Who do you use for internet? FIOS or Comcast?

It's not the router.
Router cannot make the whole system lag.

Oh, I'm from Ukraine, so my provider's name will probably not tell you anything.
Will try rebooting router after this lag occurs again.
Thank you fot your suggestions.

When this happens are other parts of your system also sluggish?

If not then I would also think it is network bandwith being saturated.

How are the videos being played back? In Flash? In Silverlight? Hardware acceleration being used at all? Your GPU can't do too much acceleration. Try ClicktoFlash on Safari and use HTML5 replacements (.mp4). Is this issue only with Chrome? Can you do same videos on Firefox/ Safari/ Opera, etc.?
