StreamToMe Alternatives?

I'm looking for a good alternative to an amazing application called StreamToMe, which allowed me to use my Laptop play/stream videos stored on my desktop computer over WAN. You can learn more about it here: https://www.zqueue.com/

This application is no longer available for download, and I was hoping someone could help me figure out some other way to stream videos stored on one computer and play them on another computer while outside of my local network (i.e. over the web).

I personally use a combo of Plex Server with Infuse.
