Hey, I have a white 1.83ghz 1GB, 60gig, and about 3 minutes ago my Macbook fell asleep, so i wiggled the trackpad it woke up.. then immediantly fell back to sleep.. so i tapped some buttons, and then it fell asleep again.. so i plugged it in.

Now its okay.. Why would this suddently fall asleep like that, in a row?

I am confused, anyone else have this problem? cause its never happened before, and i just closed the lid and plugged it in.. Its okay now...

ummm confused.. yes..

Check out the Energy Saver panel under System Preferences. You may find some answers there.

It falls asleep when the battery is flat. Could that be it?

Thats what it sounds like. Plug it in to power and wake it up, if it still does the same thing i would call/take it in to Apple

battery is flat? like you mean dead?

it claimed to have 3 hours left... and it went away after i put it to sleep myself by closing the lid then re-opening it...

I think it might jyst be a fluke, and i was wondering if it happened to anyone else...
If it happends again i will call in to apple..

Whats that website where i can enter my serial number and it will tell me how much time i have left on my warrenties (phone and repair) ?

I mean that the battery might be flat. Did you calibrate it when you first received it and do you calibrate it monthly now? If it happens again, reset your PMU and then calibrate it, in that order. :)

Enter your serial number in the About Your Support Coverage box on this page, however since it's a MacBook it can't be more than a year old so you'll be fine warranty-wise.

Yeah i have been calibrating it monthly i would say, i did it when i got it right out of the box, then again maybe last month.. i would say i go about 40 days then calibrate it.. it hasnt fell asleep like that since, but i was in a room full of people on laptops, and it was a tad embarassing, because whenever it wakes up it makes that sound from the CD drive.. so it was loud, and i think they were looking at me wierd.. So i thought i would ask around to be safe..

Ok, this is really weird. I jsut restarted my Powerbook because of the same symptoms (fell asleep very quickly several times in a row). I logged into macrumors to do a quick search, and boom - in the first page I see this thread.

I already checked the energy Saver, and changed the Sleep timer to 3 hours. The weird thing is that I was indeed using the computer, listening to music on itunes, with the new MSN messenger open and checking out a page in Safari.

Just quickly, the machine will also fall asleep if it's too hot. This is meant to prevent overheating. If you're still having troubles and it's not from overheating plus the recalibration + PMU reset doesn't help, then try re-seating the battery. :)
