ok so I tried to jailbreak my iPhone 3G using redsn0w.
the way to enter DFU mode was so quick I thought I messed it up then it went to another screen and said "rebooting" but nothing was happening so I pressed cancel and unplugged my iphone and the screen went white then I did a force reboot and it got stuck so I just did it again and finally it came back to life. I love cydia as I used it with 2.2.1 but now im scared If I try it again I wont be so lucky? any help?

Use iTunes to restore 3.0, then try RedSn0w again.

If it sticks at the second Waiting for Reboot, unplug and replug your USB, you should get the white screen which is the start of the rebooting. Let it run and complete the process. After RedSn0w finishes, your iPhone will keep doing some things for a few minutes, and will then be all done.

PS Make sure you have the correct ipsw file, it is surprising how many people on here have got stuck at Waiting for Reboot because they've downloaded the wring ipsw by mistake.

is it worth it

is jailbreaking it worth it I love my 3G but just the lingering idea that cydia is available I want to but if something goes wrong... besides themes and free apps(which I don't plan on using) what is there that cydia offers

free apps is the negative image side of jailbreaking.
I personally like the customization, irealsms, 3G unrestrictor, mx tube, dtunes, weather status icon, ringtones, insomnia to nme a few.

the options and programs of JB takes the iPhone to the next level.
