Stuck CD in MacBook.

Looks like my MacBook will be getting its first repair soon. In fact, I put in a CD last night and it got stuck. Tried the paper clip, the Terminal command line, the credit card approach, the reboot and wait 10 minutes.

Oh well, I love my MacBook but man, this is a first time this has ever happened that my Apple ate the disc completely without spitting it out. I guess that the CD was too tasty was it?

Back to the Apple Store. Just wanted to share the frustrating experience of my MacBook (that's why I own so many Macs.)...

Did you try the "tip the computer up and gently shake" approach?

Did you try holding the mouse button while starting the computer? That'll perform a force eject, as long as there isn't something physically wrong with the drive mechanism. If that doesn't work, your drive likely needs to be replaced.

Yep, I held down the mouse button while booting. In fact, I tried it 4 times last night using various durations for the mouse button holding ranging from 10 sec to 1 min long.

No luck.

Yeah and shaking didn't work either.

I love my MacBook but I'm so glad to own like 4 laptops so that I have other backups just in case.

I guess that my iSquint project will have to continue waiting.

Did you try sprinkling some black pepper near the edges to get it to sneeze the CD out?

Nah, but I did try to use a vacuum cleaner to suck the CD out and it didn't work!

Did you try the voice recongition? Scream at your Mac and swear at it.

I got back my repair on Sunday afternoon from the Apple Store. As good as new, the guys over there replaced the Superdrive completely.

And they got back my large CD that was stuck in it. I'm extremely grateful!

Got same problem on my ibook

I had such glitch on my ibooks superdrive 1,5years ago. It was a toshiba(they invented CD?) e-studio copier documentation CD. Could not get it out. So there were 2 possibilities- 1) Use gravity 2) Bring to the other side of city to a apple store. I chose 2, they told me it was 1mm thicker than other cd's in the center area. So as i understand, if use apple- u need right tools to meassure CD's before placing em in! ))))))
