Hey guys, so I had my iPhone 4 in iOS 5.1.1 with 3.10.01 baseband.
I wanted to upgrade to iOS 6.1.2 while preserving my baseband, so I used redsn0w's restore function. The enitre process works, but in the end, redsn0w tells me my device has successfully restored and that I must use recovery fix to boot it normally. My device is now in Recovery Mode and Recovery Fix doesn't help, because it says my device is in Recovery Mode and it should be on DFU.
I tried to restore three times now but after the restore, my iPhone just gets stuck in Recovery Mode.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I got it working by doing a jailbreak with redsn0w using the 6.0 IPSW, since the 6.1.2 wasn't recognized.

Hi

1st sorry for the bad English

2nd to solve this issue you just need to do the following

1- follow the instruction below to enter the DFU mode

Connect your device to your computer.
Make sure iTunes is running and all necessary drivers are installed. During the following process ignore any messages from iTunes. There is no need to click on any messages that might appear.
Do a reset by pressing and holding both home and power buttons for several seconds.
As soon as it resets (screen goes black), immediately release both buttons.
Immediately press and hold the power button again.
Wait until you see the Apple logo plus one second longer.
Now press additionally the home button (still don't let go of the power button).
Wait until the screen disappears (gets black) plus one second longer.
Now release the power button, but keep pressing the home button.
Wait until you hear a "connected" sound from iTunes.
You should now be in DFU mode and your screen should be black. If you see the USB logo instead, try again.

2-while you plugged your iPhone and opening the itunes go to windows/system32/drivers/etc
and open "hosts" file as administrator with notepad

3-remove the last to lines with word apple in it

4-this is the most important action don't close the hosts file

5-while the hosts file still open go to itunes shift+ restore choose the custom ipsw

enjoy the restore with out any errors no 3014 or 1600 or any other error

The most important thing ===> if you closed the hosts file before making the restore the two lines you have deleted will be written automatically so the restore will gave you errors in the verifying step

Do one thing.

download latest version of readsn0w.

after downloading open it

you can see the option extra...click it..(your Iphone must have in normal or recovery mode)

than you can find other option recovery fix....click it
(after clicking this option put your Iphone in DFU mode)

wait till your Iphone start again.....it might take 1 hour or less...just wait.....do not touch the Iphone and don't worry.....let it happen what is happening...

i hope it will help you......:)

You can only install 6.1.3. There is no way to install any other firmware. You either need to get it to boot or you're SOL. You can try a tool to kick it out of recovery mode. Do you know what to use and how to do it? That's really too bad it stopped working like that. Maybe it is a hardware issue. Not sure why it would just randomly die like that. I can understand if you were tweaking the phone and this happened. But normal phone calls? Might be a bad device. But either way, you can not install anything other than 6.1.3 so your best bet is to kick that out of recovery mode somehow and salvage the jailbreak.

Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.
