Heres my situation...

Lastnight, I was in Cydia downlaoding a patch for the MMS tethering for Tmobile. As soon as it rebooted the phone, I had the feeling the it will be stuck on the apple logo.

So I tried restoring it again with my custom 3.1.2 FW using MAC. I did the option+restore and as soon as it about to restore it, it gave me the 1600 error message...

So searched this forum and went to youtube for the "1600 error". The solution I came up with is to run the Redsnow 9.0...

I tried running the program at first but could not get it to run properly as my phone is stuck in Restore mode and could not put it in DFU mode (connect to itunes logo). I tried pressing the power and home button so many times and it eventually put me in the DFU mode (connect to iTunes logo) and it completely ran the Redsnow process. Problem is...

It still giving me the annoying "1600 error" message.

What am I doing wrong?

Try updating itunes and give it another shot.
Im not 100% whats causing it, just taking guesses at it.
Its an iPhone 3G right?

I have a 3GS. Ill try to update my iTunes later when I get home. I hate not having my phone with me and using a crappy old nokia phone..

You cannot install 3.1.2 or restore to 3.1.2 on a 3GS unless you 1) have your SHSH on file with Saurik and 2) have edited your hosts file to point gs.apple.com to Saurik's server's IP address.

What speak English please??? Ill do a search but is this something I can still do?

Wait a minute people... Im a little over confused now!

Just for the record... I have never restored my phone to 3.1.3. Before this incident happened, I had a JB/unlock 3.1.2 3GS.

So do I still need to do the Saurik file server? Im reading it now and this sounds like downgrading from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2...

Apple will no longer sign 3.1.2, and an iPhone 3GS will refuse to accept any firmware not signed by Apple. That means that you cannot restore to 3.1.2 no matter what version you previously had unless your 3.1.2 signatures were previously cached on Saurik's servers. You would have done this by pressing the "Make My Life Easier" button in Cydia, and you would have to have done this prior to Feb 2, 2010 when Apple stopped allowing people to restore to 3.1.2. If you did that, you can edit your hosts file and restore in DFU mode following the instructions on Saurik's blog. Otherwise there is no way on earth that you can restore your phone to anything but 3.1.3.

And, for the record, I was speaking English. You should be more polite to people whose help you are asking for.

Im sorry I didnt mean to be rude... Just frustrated with Apple! Grrrrrr

I just didnt know the term and lingos about the "Saurik File server" and how the "make my life simple" came out of Cydia. Thats what I meant by speak English please. Again, Im sorry if I offended anyone...

I think Im screwed for now but I do know one thing... I was able to put my phone in DFU mode a few times and ran Redsnow 9.0 succesfully. The problem was when it boots, it doesnt get passed the Apple logo..

OMG!!!!!!! I was able to do the Saurik file server and now my phone is unlock and jailbroken again!

Thanks for everyones help!

I didnt even get the 1015 error when restoring back to 3.1.2 FW. I just restored and I use Blackra1n to jailbreak and download

Congratulations! No, you won't get a 1015 error if you are restoring to the same version of the firmware that's currently on your phone and your baseband matches your firmware.

Hi Swoosh0217, can you kindly advise how did you restore the phone back to normal, as my 3gs is currently stuck in DFU (nothing on display) mode and I refuse to press the official restore button to 3.1.3.

Regards
