Hey Gang,
So, earlier today, during a bi-monthly Cydia update of some of my packages, I was prompted to restart my iPhone for the changes to take effect (the same screen that comes up that asks to 'Restart Springboard'). I then found myself staring at the 'Apple Screen' for several hours until the iPhone shut off from loss of power. It is important to mention that for the last several months, it has been getting harder and harder to use the Power/Sleep button. Sometimes, I had to press down especially hard to get it to lock the screen, or to initiate a hard reset.
Now, I am aware of DFU Mode, Recovery Mode, and the like, and I have tried numerous things to try and get it into those modes, but because my Power/Sleep button is somehow inoperable, I can't seem to access those methods. I have even looked into an application called 'TinyUmbrella' but it requires me to be able to use the Power button as well.
I have considered heading down to the AT&T or the Apple Store to get the iPhone replaced under warranty, but because it is Jailbroken, I am hesitant to do so. Some people have advised people in similar situations of jailbroken devices, to simply 're-virginize' the device by restoring it with iTunes before taking it in, so that the Apple techs have no idea. Well, I can't even get into the phone to do so, because iTunes cannot detect it without me having access to DFU Mode or Recovery Mode.
Do any of you know if the Apple technicians at the mentioned stores would still be able to figure out it is jailbroken if they can't access the Power button? If so, do you think it is plausible to get the phone replaced without voiding the warranty?
Thanks in advance guys. I really appreciate it!
