I accidentally upgraded to 1.1.2 and lost all my pretty applications. I want them back! So I downloaded 1.1.1 restore package, restored my phone in ITunes, got the 1015 error msg, tried to kick start the phone using Jailbreak.jar, hit "reboot," and now it's simply stuck on "sending commands" on the reboot window. Am I missing something? Help!

make sure you close itunes...also when you update to 1.1.2 and you have to click jailbreak make sure it's close. once it boots out of recovery you can just close it because mine just hangs here too. the only one that really finishes is the jailbreak one.

ok so is this the sequence of events?
-error msg 1015
-click on "ok" and close itunes
-open up jailbreak.jar
-click on "recovery"
-when that's through, click on "jailbreak?"

when would i upgrade to 1.1.2? i thought the point was to stay with 1.1.1....

thanks!

you missed a step.

I have a guide on my site (link in the signature)
what is recovery? read my guide
but you need to have the program independence too.

After you close iTunes and you click boot from recovery you need to go to jailbreakme.com to install appsnap. Once installed you need to install oktoprep. Once you've done that update to 1.1.2. After you updated close iTunes again and open the .jar and click jailbreak. It will reboot a couple of times but when it's done you'll be all set. You don't need independence for this. At least I didn't and mine is working just fine.

Where is this info coming from?

It's in the instructions that are with the .jar file only it doesn't say to have iTunes closed when you use the .jar file. I've used this method a couple of times and it works perfect.

I just rechecked everything and the jailbreak program has been updated to fit the directions that you are giving, thats why I was confused.

The fact remains the same though, the new button just emulates the commands that are sent from iNdependence. Either will work.

Thanks. Everything worked up until running jailbreak.jar, when I try to run that, it keeps saying my device is not connected to my computer. Tried re-starting the computer, etc, no dice...any advice?

FYI, for me, INdependence worked, but the "Boot from recovery" button did not.

Man...I was so close...I guess I will restore my phone for now...
