Hey Guys, I have a few stuck pixels on my screen which i know is inevitable, but I've heard these can be fixed with flashing programs. I came across this and was wondering if anyone has had any success or has any insight on this.

http://screenfix.hostyourself.net/ is the link to the pixel flasher thing. I already tried the pressure technique found here http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor but it didn't work, unless I didn't do it right. I didn't want to press too hard.

Yeah, it's quite successful. It's certainly worth giving it a go, unless you're epileptic. Seriously, get someone else to run this for you if you're epileptic. You'll see why. :)

haha. yah. i ran it for a bit over an hour, but it did nothing :( should i try running it longer, or is it hopeless then?

If it didn't work after an hour then it probably won't work. :(

Sorry, hopefully it'll unstick over time... Fingers crossed. It is stuck right? A stuck pixel is coloured whilst a dead pixel is black. If it's dead then these apps won't help. :)

yah. they are red. theres 3. and then one really small whitish/bluish one. theres only 1 red one that u can actually really notice when its black screen and thats only if your close and looking for it. so it's not horrible, but i'd rather not have them. Oh well :(

They say between 6-48 hours. I'll let y'all know if it works in 10 hours. Running the program now.

haha. cool. i'm gonna do the same. run it over night and check before i head to work. report in the morning...

LOL! It actually worked.

I turned off the program after an hour because the fan kicked in as I'm heading off to bed. I rubbed the spot and the stuck pixel disappeared!

ugh. i ran it for 6.5 hours, messaged them, pressured them. nothing. not a single one. maybe its just the 24" iMac? oh well

Did you turn the monitor brightness to maximum and turned off any screensavers and monitor sleep?

yes, full brightness. no screensavers. no sleep.

permissions? was that a joke?

The good news about dead pixels is, they "go away" in your mind!

I have one on my PowerBook, and it bugged me at first, but I don't even remember where it is now. I'd have to set to all black and hunt for it.

If I don't notice it anymore, then who cares? :)

that's true. Mine arn't dead, so i want to at least try to fix them. I left the pixel thing on in the morning before i came to work. I'll check it when i get home. *crosses fingers*

That may be the ticket. I suffered with my stuck pixel for over a year.

JScreenFix

I've spent a great deal of time investigating into the best strategy to fix stuck pixels on LCD screens and have developed a Java Applet. The Applet is freely available here:

http://www.jscreenfix.com/

The applet works on each colour cell individually in an un-coordinated fashion. This is more effective at reviving stuck pixels and is less stressful on the screen's power circuitry. The technique is also less likely to cause photosensitive epilepsy, a common problem when playing traditional pixel fixing videos. Each colour cell is turned on and off at up to 60 times a second using the applet.

I also have video versions available on the site including a DVD image which can be burnt and used in standalone DVD players.

I have to give these a go. I have 3 or 4 stuck pixels, one spot being in the dead center of the display. My guess is there are two pixels stuck in a row, but anyhow it's a bright red dot in the middle of the screen, makes watching just about anything a pain.

anything for osx 10.3.9?

I tried jscreenfix, but Java complained that it only has "1.0" and the application requires "1.4" -- this is with the latest 10.3.9 update from Apple. I've emailed the jscreenfix developer asking if I can work around this.

Meanwhile, anyone know a way to deal with a stuck pixel in software with osx 10.3.9?

When you all are talking about stuck pixels, are you talking about the new iMacs or the white ones? Definitely the massage technique is possible since I've done it on my powerbook and other imacs with the flat panel. I just wondered since the new iMac has a glass screen if massaging it even puts pressure on the screen itself. I just don't know how thick that glass is. What do you all think?

I haven't had luck with these things yet. Oh well. One time I massaged and more appeared. They went away, but I gave up massaging at that point. :p
