Transferring data from iPhone X to 13 Pro. It seemed to start ok, but I now have the following issues:
  • X is showing "Transferring Data to "iPhone 13 Pro" on lock screen.
  • It seems everything was transferred over to 13 Pro as apps and authentication works.
  • I have no cell service on 13 Pro.
When I go to unlock the X, it just goes to a screen that says, "Transferring Data" and that it will take 1 minute. It's ben like this for about an hour now. The only option on the screen is to Cancel, but don't want to leave things in a bad state. Wondering if these two issues are related (no cell service and stuck transfer).

Suggestions?

UPDATE: Power restart on Pro got cellular activated. So, that's done.

Apple's pretty infamous for the 1 minute thing taking forever. Just leave it be for several hours and see if it finishes.

If not you can always backup the X to your computer. Then restore to the 13 Pro. That process seems more fool proof. Although it can be slow if you have a lot of data on that horrible USB 2.0 connection.

Although even a 256GB model shouldn't take more than a few hours over USB 2.0. WiFi likely won't be much quicker for data transfers unless the phones are really close to the router or to each other.

After 4 or more hours, I gave up. Everything is running fine on new phone. All data is present. Will see how this goes for now. So frustrating not to get any information on what the problem is.

UPDATE: Discovered there’s a 25GB discrepancy in data between phones. Straying full backup now of old device. I can’t even remember the last time I did that. Old phone is 64GB, so it shouldn’t take too long.

Used Finder to backup and then restore to new phone. Did not take long at all. However, it was a nightmare getting the AppleID fully restored. Apple insisted I provide a password from some very old hardware that is NOT in my trusted list. One was a laptop I had not used in a year and I had no idea what that password was. The other was an old work laptop from last year and was disconnected from my account long ago (left job). Fortunately, I had that password stored in my password manager and it finally let me in. WTF, Apple? That was insane. I need to follow-up on that.

All seems good right now. This process was anything but smooth.

I’m dealing with this now. It’s stuck with transferring to 13 Pro Max…. It says “estimating” then “8 minutes”… I’m using the new phone now as we speak. You think it’s okay to go ahead and cancel?

I have the same issue, but stuck at 17 min. It’s been over 12 hours. iPhone 11 to 13. On 13 now. It seems like everything transferred, but…What a disappointment. I do not want to go through this again.

iPhone to iPhone setup is effortless until it doesn’t work. In the future, don’t use it and do it the old fashioned way from a backup from a Mac or iCloud (slow)

Had the same problem. Transfer stuck at 1 minute. I canceled the transfer, reset the new device, and tried again. The second time it worked and finished the transfer. Unfortunately the eSIM was not transferred. Gonna have to get a new one for the new iPhone.
