Student Discount Question

I ordered my 20" iMac High End model with the free nano the other day. THe nano has been shipped, but not the iMac. I used my student discount.

I now changed my mine, and instead of waiting for the 22nd, I'm just going to the Apple stor in VA to pick it up. Will this work? Can I cancel my iMac order online, and go to the store and use my student discount there? And when the ipod nano comes, just fill out the rebate and return?

College starts the 27th, and I can't wait that long before I enjoy my iMac.

The nano and the imac have to be ordered at the same time on the same receipt.

Yeah, I would wait. I ordered an 80GB with my iMac with my discount and the iPod is already being delivered but no iMac yet. School starts the 22nd for me so I'm biting my nails too, but I figured I've been waiting all summer for this model to be released, I can wait a few more days. I'm getting a little impatient since my computer hasn't shipped yet but I try to remain strong.

and go to page 2 and read Number 1. It says: The computer and iPod purchases must appear on the same sales receipt unless you ordered both products from Apple at the same time but received them in separate shipments.

AppleCare Protection Plan for iMac - Auto-enroll [+ £115.15]

I looked on the apple site and couldn't find anything. Some help would be good.

When it says: "unless you ordered both products from Apple at the same time but received them in separate shipments." that means that you ordered them at the same time, but since they are in separate shipments there will be two different invoices.

Like I can go print off my iPod invoice (because it has already been shipped) right now. But I won't get an invoice for my iMac until it has shipped.

Does that make sense?

What the original quote means (which I don't have at hand right now) is "send in the original receipt with both products listed... (This is if the iMac and iPod were shipped together and arrived together, making them on the same invoice.) ...unless you ordered both products from Apple at the same time but received them in separate shipments." (This you can read what I wrote up there)

Sorry I didn't know how to organize that to split up the quote and make it clear at the same time, and I hope I did just that with the quotes and parenthesis and boldness.

Let me know if I can help anymore and/or clear this jumble up at all.

1st is the education discount on apple care, 2nd is the standard rate.

Also when i log into higher education website, EMEA CC-HE contract uplift iMac/eMac is displayed as a apple care option. But what is the point as with higher education purchase the 3 year apple care is free the last time i checked.

I don't think it is free....I hope it is but I don't think so.

The only way to get the apple discount is to ring them up isn't it, but when I have done it before I got different discount when I rung fromt he one online.

If you use the "Apple Store for Education" you get the warrenty for £58.75. If you use "Apple Store for Higher Education" its free for us big boys .

Everytime I "logged into" my school and was playing around with different options or configs. I never once saw AppleCare for free. If it's free in there somewhere I'm a fool and Apple got my $119.00 in their grubby little paws. But normally AppleCare is $149.00 I believe? So there is a slight reduction for students in that sense.

I could be wrong about the normal price of AppleCare, but on a sidenote what I'd like to say is that I do like how Apple will give you the base $100.00 off when purchasing an iMac but then any upgrades you do to customize your iMac have little discounts too, or so it was before for me. For example, the reduced rate of AppleCare.

Like I said when I rang up they gave me a different price to the one on the site.

Is there a list some were that says what you can get with the typ eo feducation you are in?

Yeah, after my last computer fiasco, I was not taking any chances this time. So I am perfectly fine with dishing out $100.00 and some change to protect my computer for 3 years.

If you have not already opened the iPod then you can return it to Apple and just cancel the entire on line order. Call Apple and they will send you shipping labels. You'll get a full refund. Then go to Apple store and buy both the iPod and iMac. They do need to be on the same order in order to qualify for the rebate. I'd like to know why Apple requires the ipod and imac to be on the same receipt. It really messes things up if you want to return or cancel one of the items. You have to return both and then re-order everything.

Well that's a relief...I guess...(would have been nice to have it in the US too)

Actually it's not a big deal either way. If it was in the US I wouldn't have gone and grumbled until I got my $119.00 back and then find out that something else isn't covered or what not. Thanks though mzd, I'll take my 99% satisfactory rating (100% if they'd ship my iMac quicker) with your 98% confidence and just be a happy content boy.

Yeah it's engraved. So tommorow, I'm going to VA to get the iMac, then cancel my order online for the iMac. Reuse the discount, and sell the new unengraved iPod. I hate waiting!!!

Haha, that makes much more sense. I understand "don't quote me on it", but the way it was worded confused me. Haha, I'm a goof. I took it as you didn't want to be wrongly quoted in the forum, not just wrongly quoted in the way people would read what you had said. Sorry for my thick skull. Haha.
