Hi,

I need some help concerning the following;

Things i have;
Wireless SKY broadband connection (groundfloor)
42 LG TV HDTV (TopFloor - TP)
Apple TV (40GB) (TP)
Time Capsule (500GB) (TP)
MacBook Pro (TP)

'Specialist' things i want to be able to do;
1. Connect my Time Capsule to Apple TV (thus my HDTV) and watch downloaded films etc
2. Pick up the wireless internet connection on my Time Capsule from the Ground Floor wireless router and share it (creating my own internet network in my top floor room) - so to use the internet for wireless gaming (PS3), for general surfing (MBP) and for Apple TV connection. However, if i cannot share the connection can i physically plug in my MBP/PS3/ATV etc into the Time capsule and still connect (would obviously need a hub)

Thanks very much,

(please use the numbers to answer so its clear, also if i need anything extra to make this possible please let me know)

Will it be reliable?

You should be able to do that, simply use the wizard in the Airport Utility to configure the Time Capsule to extend your wireless network. So long as the Time Capsule gets a good signal from the router on the ground floor, then it should work. Once the Time Capsule can connect to the ground floor router, than everything else is a simple matter of connecting to the Time Capsule either wireless or wired.

(Edit) I used similar setup when I first moved into my apartment, only I ran an ethernet cable from my Time Machine to my cable modem. If at all possible, you would be best off running an ethernet cable as well, but from everything I have read about the Time Machine, it is capable of acting as a wireless bridge to your ground floor router.

im somewhat confused.

the time capsule can serve as a base station, so if you put that on the ground floor, you would be able to broadcast the signal to your apple tv and your macbook pro. wires dont seem necessary. is there something that i'm missing?

thanks

thanks for the first response, which was really good and reassuring!

as for the one above....i am in a student house so the router on the ground floor is communal for the entire house and its occupants, and i dont want my TC downstairs lol!
