Student Warranty Question: Online Apple warranty info shows wrong information?

Hey guys, Im sorry if this has been covered before.

I ordered a BTO iMac 27'' from the UK online store last tuesday, via the education store. My first ever iMac!

I believed that education purchases are covered by a complimentary 3 year apple care warranty? However, when I check my warranty status online, it shows my warranty will expire May 4th 2012.

Is this an error on the site, or does it usually not show the extended warranty for education purchases.

Nah man they have the standard 1 year warranty, however you could have purchased the 3 year Applecare for £40 rather than the £140 when you were buying the beast!

According to the apple website (when purchasing), the additional £40 is for extended phone support only (when you click on more info). Education purchased are supposed to come with a three year apple care warranty as standard.

The OP is right, if you purchase through the education store you get extended warranty

Contact Apple and ask. I've seen this question been asked before but I can't remember what the solution was. Macs purchased through UK HE store should still have a 3-year standard though.

Don't worry, it takes an awful lot of time sometimes...up to 10 months.

I purchased my Laptop in 2008 and my iMac there last Thursday through the HE store... and when customising it, the option is there to extend it to three years with the Applecare protection Plan!

Are you all saying there was no need to pay for this?

After speaking with Apple tonight, they confirmed that all HE Education purchases come with a 3 year AppleCare warranty as standard, however there is only one year of AppleCare phone support. The +£45 option you saw on the online store was to extend the phone support to three years. They also confirmed that the online site will be updated with the correct information, usually after the 'remorse period,?

Aww really?! Oh well I suppose the telephone support might come in handy for the 27" iMac save me driving up to the Applestore if anything should happen to it!

thats brilliant, i ordered my iMac throught the HE store, that has given me some piece of mind knowing I have a 3 year warranty including 1 year phone support

You guys in the UK and the EU are very fortunate to have three years of a standard warranty shipping with the product. We in the states have to purchase the extended warranty that you guys all ready get.
