Students: How many of Your Instructors Use Macs?

I've noticed that as I advance through my education, more and more of my instructors are Mac users. When I started high school, only one of my teachers was a Mac user. Now, in my third year of university, I don't know of a single instructor that isn't a Mac user!

So what about your instructors now? Post and vote in the poll.

well, i am a teacher not a student, but the entire department (graphic design) uses macs; both student and teachers.

In my department precisely none. In the whole university I would estimate (based on the mac user email list) less than 1%.

Chemical Engineering, we use Fluent, Hysys, Office, Matlab, Coreldraw, Mathematica, + lots of others.

Nothing at all, i do this at home, but the department needs all of the applications to run.

Works just fine for us here within the department.

Users are getting a little too Parallels happy though.

There are also a number of data loggers hooked up to the computers (either serial or parallel connectors). The industry pretty much only has windows support. The department gets the same computers as the rest of the University and the university runs one managed desktop system. Heres an example of what we have to put up with.

Running very processor applications through parallels surely will have a performance hit. My friends who are on CFD course run 4 hour simulations.

There just isn't the money and the inertia is too great.

Sound engineering and production honours degree here, I can only think of one tutor that uses Windows.

Oops, I voted none but I do remember one of my instructors owning a Mac. It was my Interpersonal Communications teacher. It's a shame considering there's a Mac poster on every bulletin board around campus. Quite a few students own them though...

Every CS professor I have ever seen here at Georgia Tech uses a MacBook Pro. Most other professors I have seen use the Dells that are provided in the lecture halls, but the CS professors hook their MBP up to the projectors and use those instead.

None. Its a Windows Uni and we have some Solaris boxen too. But alas no macs. Not even in the media department (where for some reason they all use Ubuntu - crazy kids)

Well, only the art teacher uses Macs (go figure,) but it is a high school. Unfortunately (and I was outraged,) I learned today she's actually being forced to go back to Windows just so she's the same as everyone else in the school. That happened once before, but she spent atleast 3 years arguing with the school until they finally gave her her mac back. She's refusing to take it out of the room, but it's not going to be on the network. Sad.
