Where did / will you buy the Apple Studio display ?

Why did you choose that retailer ?

Price differences ? Warranty ? No taxes ?

Why spend £1500 on Apple 27 inch studio when Dell 32 display at £700, half the price !
If you have to ask this question, then well, you probably should just buy the Dell 32".

Dell also has a 32" display that sells for $3800, and people still buy it. Why? For the same reason people buy modern Apple displays: pixel density. Apple uses a high enough pixel density so as to enable 2x integer scaling at a reasonable resolution.

Want to run that Dell 32" at 2x Retina? That means you'll be running it at a scaled 1920x1080 resolution. Obnoxiously low for a 32"

Want to run the Studio Display at 2x Retina? That means a scaled resolution of 2560x1440. Many people would argue that's ideal for a 27". I'd argue it should be higher still (e.g. a 6k panel in a 27" form factor). But regardless, THAT is why a lot of people will *happily* pay double what the Dell offering sells at.

I'm hoping they have some on launch day, right now I'm looking at May deliver. Plus, I think I want 2
Are you looking to get a pair of base displays or are you looking to get the nano textured and/or adjustable height version ?

The Apple genius rep said the stores will have for demo/display the base model and the VESA model for sure - other options were a maybe.

I'm looking for the non-nano textured screen; I work with more text than pictures. Probably the standard base as well, I thought about the adjustable one, but my wife's 24in iMac height is perfectly fine.

Personally...
  • I'm hoping for no more "wake from sleep" issues I get when using thunderbolt on LG/Dell screens
  • Built-in webcam w/centre stage
  • Three mic array & good speakers
  • No more random resolution/scaling issues - or blurry fonts
  • All-in-one solution
To me those things are worth the premium, especially given the amount of time I spend on video calls these days, but I'm very aware that's just my particular use-case.

I wonder when other online retailers will be able to confirm stock of these? I see a few companies now have them on their product pages but not available to order yet.

Same here - non nano textured.
Shame that I can't connect 2 Studio displays side by side...

Still buying 2 as well -
First from Apple using EDU discount and Apple Card with 3% cash back on launch day for my M1 Mini;
Second from B&H (no tax) using PayBoo card for wife's iMac.

Why can't you connect them side by side? Has that been determined?

The 2 TB ports for a silly reason can't connect simultaneously 2 Studio displays.

So my second display will be a 4K 27" LG monitor that uses HDMI.

I'd rather not wait for my ASD. Anyone have any insight where I can purchase a nano version on Friday that will be in stock to ship quickly?

Try these online retailers: B&H, Adorama, MicroCity, CDW - you can find out which one will actually get the nano optioned version.

As for in store nano optioned - would be scarce as most retail stores (Best Buy, MicroCenter, Curacao) would probably stock only the base model.

I am getting 2 displays.
One will be ordering from Apple.com and opt for local Apple store pickup.
I am in between 3 Apple stores so hoping one will have the base display.

Second display is a B&H order which I placed last week.

Do we think that Apple stores will have one with height adjustment/tilt stand too in store?

Apple Stores all near me (8) all have the standard glass w/ height adjustable stand option.

UPDATE:
Cancelled B&H online order due to backorder status this morning.
Ordered the Studio display w/ basic tilt stand on Apple.com for pickup at my local Apple Store. Used EDU discount and Apple Card for 3%.

Also, since I am really in love with my ancient 27" TB display, I ordered the Mac Studio base (Max) for $200 EDU discount and $370 M1 Mini trade in plus 3% Apple Card cash back.

Was that a crazy thing to do in order to get dual TB displays to work ??
