So I'm hearing conflicting information from some people regarding the stand options for the studio display. I'm currently testing out monitors for my mac studio and will probably settle with the studio display. However I find the stand is way too low and I'm not about to pay 400 for the privilege to be able to raise it. I love apple but just find that insulting. I'm replacing 3 thunderbolt displays with 3 studios so that wold be an extra 1200 just to be able to raise them so that option is off the table.

So my question is if I buy it with the stand can we upgrade it later to a vesa mount or if we buy it with a vesa mount can we upgrade it to a stand later down the line? Anyone have any experience with this? Some people are saying you can but have to take it in to apple. Others are saying no. Thanks

I don't remember the Thunderbolt Displays to be height-adjustable. Also, aren't they about the same height as the Studio Display?
Regarding your question: Apparently you can take your Display to an Apple Store and get the stand changed there.

The Studio Display can be upgraded to a different stand mount - but only if you take it to Apple and they replace the entire rear back panel.
That will cost bucks$$$

If you can’t manage the VESA mounts, why not make a little shelf thingy on your desk to raise the monitors up to where you want them?

no they're not adjustable and just as low. I have them wall mounted on monitor arms. But you had the option to put a vesa mount on them or use with a stand.

yea I haven't heard anyone mention how much that would cost lol. I'm sure it would def be some $$$. I've thought about that but I think that would bother my ocd a little. It seems with these monitors the best bet would be to purchase with the vesa mount option from the start.

I am in two minds about a studio display

Currently using a dell 3008wfp and happy with it but uses a lot of power.

However struggling to find something that comfortable replacing with.

Am toying with the idea of the studio display as max studio replacing a hack based on a Z390 designare which has TB3 built in along with a Displayport in function so can feed the RX580 into the motherboard and out via the TB3 so simply swap the thunderbolt input from PC to Studio and back when need too.

As such PC should get to use the display with speakers and camera when converted to a Windows Games rig

However would definitely be getting the VESA mount version over the stand if go with the studio display so can position as want.

Someone in the forums had previously mentioned these stands so I took a chance and was not disappointed. I think if you're looking of a quality riser at a good price you can't go wrong with these.

pretty cool, now those actually don't look bad like most of the rest I've seen.
